A message from GSSJC CEO Mary Vitek

We hope you and your family are safe. As our community faces one of the most impactful and devastating weather events in recent history, please know you are in our thoughts.

Girl Scouts are strong and resilient and we are a family. We have received many messages of support from Girl Scout councils across the country and I am confident our community will emerge from this disaster stronger and more united.

Service is a cornerstone of Girl Scouting, so I also know many of our Girl Scouts will go to work as soon as it is safe to do so, rebuilding our community and making the world a better place. Please be safe and follow the instructions of local officials as you do so.

Given the devastation our community is experiencing, the Girl Scout Center, Houston area service centers and southern service centers will remain closed until Thursday at a minimum. Our camps will be closed through the weekend. We will continue to watch the path of Harvey and will close for a longer duration if that is advisable. Please follow us on Facebook for updates. www.Facebook.com/GSSJC

If you need information on available community resources, call #211. (2-1-1 is the Texas/United Way HELPLINE answering thousands of Harvey-related calls. They are available 24/7 with updated info & resources.)

Yours in Girl Scouting,
Mary Vitek
