Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council Recognizes Cypress Point Community Center

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) recently honored Cypress Point Community Center with a Community Award for its many years of support to the organization. A representative from Cypress Point Community Center received the award at the Girl Scoutís annual Fall Council Meeting in October.

Cypress Point Community Center allows Girl Scout troops and volunteers to use its facilities for meetings and training events. ďAs it becomes more difficult for non-profit organizations to find facilities to use at little or no cost, Cypress Point Community Center has been wonderful in accommodating Girl Scouts through the years,Ē said Girl Scout Volunteer Brandy Gustafson.

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 3.5 million girls and adults. Today, as when founded in 1912, GSUSA helps cultivate values, social conscience, and self-esteem in young girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. In Girl Scouting--and its special girl-only environment--girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together.

Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving over 58,000 girl members and 14,000 adults in 21 southeast Texas counties.

GSSJS Pluralism Statement
Embracing and promoting pluralism is an integral part of every activity and plan of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, not disconnected or separate projects. Only individuals willing to accept and be educated about the basic tenet that Girl Scouting is for all girls may serve in volunteer leadership or staff positions.
