Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) recently honored Girl Scout volunteer Saundra Kuykendall for her many years of service to the organization. She received her award during the annual Fall Council Meeting. Kuykendall was awarded the 35 Year Numeral Pin. The Membership Numeral represents total years of membership, both as girl and adult member. Kuykendall joined the staff of GSSJC in the role of field executive and product sales director. Upon leaving her staff position in 1997, Saundra filled some important volunteer positions. She was chair of the Council Recognition Committee and the Recognition Event Committee for two years. She has also served on the committee for Adult Educational Opportunities, Membership Development Conference, Urban Campout, and the Trainer Conference hosted by GSSJC. Kuykendall also heads up the Vintage Style Show and under her direction the number of models, vintage clothing, and shows have increased. Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 3.5 million girls and adults. Today, as when founded in 1912, GSUSA helps cultivate values, social conscience, and self-esteem in young girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. In Girl Scouting--and its special girl-only environment--girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving over 58,000 girl members and 14,000 adults in 21 southeast Texas counties.
