New Girl Scout Cookie Makes Big Splash
Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council to Introduce ‘Piñatas’ During Annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale

(FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Houston, December 8, 2003) Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council will unveil a new Girl Scout Cookie, Piñatas, starting January 10, 2004 with the kick-off of the Council’s Annual Girl Scout Cookie Sale. Cookie moms (and dads) have already started training for the new Cookie Sale season. This year’s theme is ‘Make a Splash With Girl Scout Cookies,’ and girls in troops and groups throughout southeast Texas will be preparing to do just that: setting goals, practicing good customer service skills, and getting their cookie facts straight!

The new Piñata Girl Scout Cookie is a wholesome treat wrapped around a luscious berry-filled center: a cookie with a tasty surprise inside, much like an actual piñata. A crunchy oatmeal base is iced on the bottom, and topping off the fruit filling is a sure-to-please swizzle of sugar glaze and cinnamon crumb topping.

To try all eight varieties of Girl Scout Cookies, join the San Jacinto Council for its signature Girl Scout Cookie Chef Event, Just Desserts, Wednesday, January 7 at 7 p.m. at the Art Institute of Houston, 1900 Yorktown. Local superstar chefs will create original desserts using the Girl Scout Cookies: Animal Treasures, Caramel deLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Piñatas, Reduced Fat Lemon Pastry Cremes, Shortbread, and Thin Mints. Proceeds from the Cookie Sale stay in the Council’s 21 southeast Texas communities, providing resources, programs and special activities for area Girl Scouts. To order your favorite variety, or to find out about the nearest Cookie Shop, call 1-888-GS Cookie.

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is the premiere organization for all girls—building character, values and skills for a lifetime.
