Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) recently honored Girl Scout volunteers for their many years of service to the organization. They received their awards during the annual Fall Council Meeting. Guadalupe Saldivar received the Appreciation Pin. This award is presented to registered adults who have given outstanding service above the expectations required by the positions they have held. Saldivar started as a Brownie Leader in 1992. She continues to be a leader as well as a Girl Scout Cookie Sale volunteer and serves at the service unit, district, and Council levels. She has been a two-time delegate to national conventions and served on the Hispanic Outreach Committee, Project Horizons committee, and Council Pluralism Committee. Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 3.5 million girls and adults. Today, as when founded in 1912, GSUSA helps cultivate values, social conscience, and self-esteem in young girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. In Girl Scouting--and its special girl-only environment--girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving over 58,000 girl members and 14,000 adults in 21 southeast Texas counties.
