Girl Scouts Bleed Green
Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council hosted a blood drive for volunteers and staff in conjunction with The Greater Houston Area Red Cross on March 12, which was also the Girl Scouts 95th Anniversary.
The Red Cross estimates that participating donors will save the lives of 54 patients. The drive was just one of many community service events that will take place during Girl Scout Week, March 11-17. As individuals and in troops or other groupings, Girl Scouts, their family members and friends will carry out meaningful activities that are keenly aligned with the Girl Scout mission. San Jacinto Girl Scouts who perform good deeds during the anniversary year will receive a special anniversary patch, 'Make the World a Better Place' or pin.
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving over 63,000 girl members and 18,000 adults in 25 southeast Texas counties. GSSJC Pluralism Statement
Embracing and promoting pluralism is an integral part of every activity
and plan of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, not disconnected or separate
projects. Only individuals willing to accept and be educated about the
basic tenet that Girl Scouting is for all girls may serve in volunteer
leadership or staff positions.
