Girl Scouts Honor Community Partners

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) recently honored community partners University of Houston and KUHF’s Eric Ladau. The University of Houston and the wonderful staff was awarded the Walnut Plaque for their consistent support and generous contribution of facilities to host the annual Career & Technology Fair for Girl Scouts ages 11-17. This event offers girls the opportunity to learn directly from professionals about a variety of careers. Young women are given the chance to hone skills for job interviews and prepare for college.

Eric Ladau was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his behind-the-scenes tours of local KUHF 88.7 Houston Public Radio and Houston PBS television stations. He offers Girl Scouts and adults an up close view of all aspects of the business, opening the doors to careers in radio, television and journalism. His yearly tour to Career & Technology Fair participants is always a big hit.

Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving over 63,000 girl members and 18,000 adults in 25 southeast Texas counties. For more information call 1-800-392-4340 or visit

GSSJC Pluralism Statement
Embracing and promoting pluralism is an integral part of every activity and plan of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, not disconnected or separate projects. Only individuals willing to accept and be educated about the basic tenet that Girl Scouting is for all girls may serve in volunteer leadership or staff positions.
