Become A Girl Scout Member or Volunteer: Defy the Ordinary

Girls everywhere are encouraged to learn more about themselves and the world around them through the various programs available through Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC). All girls ages 5 to 17 are invited to join Girl Scouts, the premier organization, building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

GSSJC is holding membership rallies this fall in 25 southeast counties. These counties are Angelina, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller and Wharton. Visit for a complete list of rally times and locations.

In addition to the traditional troop program, GSSJC offers a range of activities throughout the year that do not require a troop affiliation. Some of these activities are archery, backpacking, conservation, drill team, horseback riding, photography, rock climbing, sailing, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) programs, swimming and theatre arts. Girls have the opportunity to attend resident camp or one of the many day camps offered each summer.

Women and men are invited to use their skills and abilities to make a real difference in the life of a girl. Whether you are a potential troop leader, Do-Dad or a volunteer who is willing to spend a few hours to help with administrative needs, your help is welcomed. Please fill out the interest form available at

The framework of the Girl Scouts was constructed as a positive values-based movement. Today these values are still expressed in the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law. Membership dues are $10 and financial assistance is available.

Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 3.5 million girls and adults. Today, as when founded in 1912, GSUSA helps cultivate values, social conscience, and self-esteem in young girls, while also teaching them critical life skills that will enable them to succeed as adults. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving over 63,000 girl members and 18,000 adults in 25 southeast Texas counties. For more information call 1-800-392-4340 or visit

GSSJC Pluralism Statement
Embracing and promoting pluralism is an integral part of every activity and plan of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council, not disconnected or separate projects. Only individuals willing to accept and be educated about the basic tenet that Girl Scouting is for all girls may serve in volunteer leadership or staff positions.
