Sterling McCall Toyota and Girl Scouts unite to make ‘key’ donation
HOUSTON (September 20, 2010) – Thanks to the support of Sterling McCall Toyota and the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council’s (GSSJC’s) staff donations to the Leadership for a Lifetime Annual Giving Campaign, GSSJC was able to acquire a much needed truck for Camp Myra S. Pryor, a Girl Scout camp located west of Houston.
The Leadership for a Lifetime Annual Giving Campaign assists GSSJC in continuing its agenda to provide quality programming; operate ten camps across southeast Texas; offer programs and training materials to more than 72,000 girls and 17,000 adults; and provide financial assistance to girls.
“Sterling McCall Toyota is proud to be a part of this wonderful organization,” said David Womack, Sterling McCall Toyota’s fleet director. “We think the world is a better place because of the Girl Scouts and what they stand for.”
The 2011 Toyota Tundra was presented to Camp Ranger Joseph McCool and GSSJC’s camp staff during an all-staff meeting held in September at the Houston Girl Scout center. The truck will be instrumental in maintaining the camp property and providing transportation on-site and off-site, among other tasks.
“I am truly grateful for the tireless commitment of our staff day in and day out and for the support of Sterling McCall Toyota,” said Mary Vitek, chief executive officer for GSSJC. “We could not accomplish the mission of Girl Scouting – to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place – without the support of our community. Our deepest thanks to Sterling McCall Toyota for being a great community partner.”
Girl Scouts of the USA is the world's preeminent organization for girls, with a membership of more than 3.7 million girls and adults. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Chartered by GSUSA to provide Girl Scouting locally, Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the country serving more than 72,000 girls and 17,000 adults in 26 southeast Texas counties.
