Scout Hut Unveiled in Bay Area

(Photographed from L to R) Bob Keller from the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Regina Zaragoza from the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC), Commissioner Jack Morman, Domineque Westall representing GSSJC and DeWhite Page representing Boy Scouts of America unveiled the new Scout Hut at Bay Area Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event took place during GSSJC's Camp Happy Day Camp and was witnessed by members of both scouting organizations. For decades, communities have donated buildings, some of them historical, for the sole purpose of advancing the scouting movement, which has provided a number of opportunities for girls and boys to develop leadership skills. Commissioner Morman has been working on a number of advancements and decided that the scouts would benefit greatly from the Scout Hut, a place that could be used for training, ceremonies and storage while the scouts are utilizing park amenities.
