Getting to Know You Sessions
for Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Wharton counties
In an effort to make the transition to the way of work of our new Council as smooth as possible, we’d like to invite you to attend one of the following informational sessions. Bring your questions and your good ideas! There will be refreshments and door prizes as well as limited babysitting services available for those not able to make other arrangements. We hope to see you there!
When and Where
- Tuesday, July 11 (7-9 p.m.)
Temple Baptist Church, Texas City
1200 22nd Street
Proceed south on IH-45 to Texas City exit (Emmet Lowry Expressway). Exit right, and proceed over IH-45 onto Emmet Lowry Expressway south. When the freeway ends at a traffic light, it becomes Palmer Hwy. Continue straight on Palmer to 21st Street. Turn left on 21st (the Jack-in-the-Box is on your right). Proceed to 12th Avenue. Turn left on 12th Avenue. Go one block and the church will be on the right, at the corner of 12th Avenue and 22nd Street.

Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Sugar Land
5653 West River Park Drive @ Grand Parkway, Sugar Land
Drive South on Southwest Freeway (Hwy 59) past Hwy 6 to Hwy 99 (Grand Parkway). Exit onto the feeder, and turn right on Hwy 99 (this is a divided highway with a broad grassy median). Proceed to the first light (West River Park Drive) and turn left (make sure you are in the left-turn lane, NOT the U-turn lane). Proceed across the opposite lanes of Hwy. 99 and the church is on the corner on the right.

Friendswood Public Library, Friendswood
416 Friendswood Drive (FM518), Friendswood
Drive South on IH-45 toward Galveston. Exit at FM 2351 toward Friendswood. Turn right from the feeder onto FM 2351. Proceed west to FM 518 (Friendswood Drive). Turn left on Friendswood Drive. Proceed to 416 Friendswood Drive. Library will be on the right.

2425 South Grand (off FM 518), Pearland
Driving directions from downtown Houston - Drive Highway 288 South toward Lake Jackson / Freeport, continue driving for about 12 miles. Exit FM 518 / Pearland. Turn left onto FM 518, continue driving for about 6 miles . Turn right onto South Main Street / TX-35. Turn left onto East Pear Street. Turn left onto South Grand Blvd.

Lone Stars Service Unit Girl Scout House
98 Plantation Drive, Lake Jackson
Drive South on Hwy 288 Freeway to Lake Jackson (about 50 miles from the Girl Scout Center). Continue on Hwy 288 into town. You will pass traffic lights at This Way (yes, this really is the street name!), Oak Drive, and Yaupon. The next light is Plantation Drive. There will be a large “Bucees” gas station/store on the right. Turn left at Plantation Drive. Get in the right lane. The street will curve to the right in about ˝ block. Proceed to the second street on the left, and turn left. The Girl Scout House is the first driveway on the right, and is behind the Habitat for Humanity building. The Girl Scout House is a one-story, red brick building with a French mansard roof.

First United Methodist Church
FM 1092 @ Lexington, Missouri City
From the Girl Scout Center in Houston, proceed south on the Southwest Freeway (Hwy 59). Continue past Beltway 8 and exit at Murphy Road (FM 1092). Turn left under the freeway on to Murphy Road. Continue straight on Murphy Road, past the railroad track and Hwy 90. Turn right at Lexington, and the church will be on your right, just past the gas station on the corner of Murphy Road and Lexington.

Fort Bend County Library-Missouri City Branch
1530 Texas Parkway, Missouri City
From the Girl Scout Center in Houston, proceed south on the Southwest Freeway (Hwy 59). Exit on to Beltway 8 South. Exit at Hwy 90, and turn right on to Hwy 90. The first light is Texas Parkway. Turn left on Texas Parkway and go to the light at Missouri City Drive (a number of blocks). On the right, set back off the street, you will see a city complex. Turn right at Missouri City Drive into the complex. Curve left and the library will be on the left. Park in the parking lot just past the library. The entrance to the library faces the parking lot.
