Terms and Acronyms from GSSTC and GSSJC

To Girl Scouts in Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Wharton counties:

Welcome to Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council!  This list is intended to help you understand more about Girl Scouts of San Jacinto terms, acronyms, and/or forms.  Items listed in the GSSTC column are terms, acronyms, and/or forms that you may have used while in South Texas.  Items listed in the GSSJC column indicate the San Jacinto equivalent.  For more complete information about everything San Jacinto, refer to other sections of this Web site, issues of The Golden Link, and the informational packet distributed at the summer welcome meetings and fall service unit meetings.  The packet includes a Troop CD with electronic copies of the GSSJC Resource Guide, troop program materials, forms, and much more.  Contact your membership manager if you need any of these materials.

  A Taste of Studio 2B Annual Program Spring Event (day only) for Bridging Juniors. Council Sponsored.
  Badge boxes Resource kit for troops to assist in earning GS awards
  Cadette (girls 11 – 14) Weekend (various names depending on the yr.) Council sponsored event for Cadettes  (generally every two years, even years)
  Career & Tech Events Girls meet professionals to learn various career skills
NA Choir “Take Note” –for 7th grade and older; 
“Quarter Notes” –for 4-6th grade girls
  CIT Counselor In Training – Leadership training for older girls to work at resident camps.
  College Crawl Annual, week long, summer Girl Event for high school students. Includes visits to college campuses to learn about financial assistance, Greek life, scholarship opportunities, etc. 
  Council Puppetry Troupe Kids on Block (copyright) and Neighborhood Crew (not copyright) puppets, monthly rehearsals, etc.
NA GAM Spring event at Casa Mare (in odd years) – land and water contests (Girls 11 – 17)
NA Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council History Committee -Volunteer committee which collects and preserves items and documents related to GSSJC’s history and membership.
-Promote interest in Girl Scouting among girls and adults.
NA Green Starlettes Council Drill team  (grade 6 –12)
Registration begins late May and closes in late October.
  Merit Badge Workshop @
Sam Houston State University
Annual Girl Event for high school students to earn Interest Project Patches in one day.  Held in the winter.
  Midnight Madness Annual, winter, overnight Girl Event for high school students with a focus on career exploration.  Destinations may include: fire/police departments; hospital; newspaper; hotel; restaurant; TV/radio station and more.
NA M.O.L.E. Mostly Outdoor Little Events  Activities available at some camps for troops to receive additional program information.
NA Mariner Sailing Interest Group
  On the Go Program activities coordinated with community groups
  Project Horizons One day council themed event with outdoor skills/ activities program
NA Ready Camper Program Program to encourage use of camps for troops which can camp with short notice
NA Senior Recognition Event (SRE) Annual spring event recognizing 10-year pin recipients, graduating seniors, Gold Award recipients and The Emerald Circle scholarship winners.  Event is GPB driven
  Senior Senate GS Senators develop, promote, administer, and evaluate GS program for grades 9 - 12
NA Shutterbugs Photography Interest Group

Documentation of Unpaid Money Uncollected Funds Report A report used by the Accounting department to track the collection of outstanding money owed.
Ebudde2 Cookie Program Cookie Works Online program used by troop cookie managers and service unit cookie managers to input cookie orders, delivery locations, incentives, and other important cookie sale information.
Gift of Caring NA Opportunity for girls and their customers to help others in their community.  Customers purchase cookies to be donated to a charity. The cookies are delivered to the charity by the troop.
QB tickets Authorization Card A preprinted piece of paper that a troop cookie manager may either use and/or give to another adult designated to pick up additional cases of cookies at a reorder station.
Rolling Booths NA Direct sale of cookies from a vehicle.
Service Unit Cookie Coordinator Service Unit Cookie Manager Service unit recommended and Council appointed registered adult volunteer responsible for the Cookie Sale at the service unit level.  SUCMs deal with a number of troops and keep the service unit manager(s) up to date on Cookie Sale information
Troop Proceeds Troop Bonus Amount of money a troop retains from the cookie sale

Area Associations NA Governance level geographic division of GSSTC comprised of multiple service units to perform the policy functions of the council set by the Board of Directors
Blast-off NA Kick-off event for the new membership year
Council Annual Meeting (included Adult Recognitions ceremony) Annual Council Meeting Spring meeting at which governance/policy decisions are presented for vote.  Members of the Board of Directors/Nominating Committee are elected.  State-of-the-council reports presented. 
Delegates – elected by the area associations (# based on girl membership) Delegates – 2 selected from each service unit Representatives for specific geographic areas who vote on policy decisions requested by the Board of Directors
