2019 Highlights

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC), one of the largest Girl Scout councils in the U.S., hosted its annual dessert competition, Just Desserts, at the Junior League of Houston Wednesday, January 16. Nine chefs from across Houston went head-to-head to create the most delicious desserts using Girl Scout cookies. All The Crave Cheesecakes was selected for the People’s Choice award.

This year’s around the world theme recognized that Girl Scouts is a global organization with the mission to empower young girls everywhere. The Girl Scout Cookie Program® helps teach girls entrepreneurial skills, such as how to become effective leaders, manage finances, gain self-sufficiency and develop confidence in handling money.

The program is also the fuel that powers the unique experiences and adventures girls have as members of the organization. Cookie booths will open on February 22 and the sale ends on March 24. You can visit wherearethecookies.com for more information on how to purchase cookies.

Nearly 300 guests enjoyed the event as media judges and their Girl Scout partners deliberated on which dessert would be the best in each of the following categories: Best Dessert Presentation, Best Table Display, Best Theme Interpretation, Best Use of Cookie, Celebrity Judges Favorite, Girl Judges Favorite, Most Camp Friendly, Most Creative Recipe and Most Delicious. Attendees voted for their favorite to choose the People’s Choice award.
