Did you know that the earliest known recipe for s’mores can be found in a Girl Scout camping guide from 1927? Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC), one of the largest Girl Scout Councils in the U.S., invites members of the community to Levy Park to celebrate this awesome tradition on Thursday August 10 at Levy Park Conservancy in Houston.
You do not have to be a member of Girl Scouts to attend. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a citizen scientist DIY by making their own solar s'mores oven and will then put their ovens to the test with the iconic campfire treat to celebrate National S'mores Day.
You can also get a jump on the school year and join Girl Scouts on-site.
GSSJC's S'mores in the Park event takes place Thursday, August 10 from 5 - 6:30 p.m. at Levy Park Conservancy, 3801 Eastside St. in Houston.
