Girl Scouts begin selling cookies at retail locations Friday, Feb. 22 across southeast

news_2016

Southeast Texas Girl Scouts will begin selling Girl Scout Cookies in front of retail locations beginning February 22 at 4 p.m. as part of the Girl Scout Cookie Program. The program is the largest girl-led business in the world and teaches girls essential skills to succeed personally and professionally.

In January, Girl Scouts took pre-orders and now customers can purchase their favorite varieties – Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Caramel deLites, Shortbread, Lemonades, Peanut Butter Patties, Thanks-A-Lot and S’mores before or after they’ve picked up their household items. Packages cost just $5.

New to the 2019 cookie line-up is the gluten free Caramel Chocolate Chip. The bite size cookies features rich caramel, semisweet chocolate chips, and a hint of sea salt in a chewy gluten-free cookie. Customers looking to purchase packages of Caramel Chocolate Chip are encouraged to ask troops selling cookies at booths about this option.

When customers stop by a cookie booth to purchase a package of Girl Scout Cookies, they are not only helping to teach girls The Five Skills – decision making, goal setting, money management, business ethics and people skills, but they are also giving girls across southeast Texas the ability to power new, unique and amazing experiences.

From donating supplies to a pet shelter to funding for a European adventure, Girl Scouts are doing remarkable things made possible by each and every cookie sale. However, girls’ cookie proceeds alone aren’t enough to power the Girl Scout Movement—investing in girls is important year-round, not just during cookie season.

“Without support from the community, donors and our wonderful volunteers, we could not positively impact the more than 53,000 Girl Scouts we serve through our programs,” said Mary Vitek, GSSJC’s CEO. “Whether you can give a few hours, a few weeks or a few months, volunteering with Girl Scouts is flexible and rewarding. When a customer purchases a box of Girl Scout Cookies®, they help girls take charge to find solutions to problems in their community and fulfill their dreams of making a difference in the world.”
