Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council Launches 2020 Girl Scout Cookie Season

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) launches the 2020 Girl Scout Cookie Program on February 1. Girl Scouts across our community will become entrepreneurs as they earn money to power their own leadership opportunities and adventures. This year, GSSJC is proud to announce that cookies will be on hand starting at the launch of cookie season, meaning customers will be able to enjoy delicious cookie favorites starting February 1.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls entrepreneurship as they have fun learning essential skills like money management, public speaking, and decision making, which set them up for a lifetime of success. Nine in ten Girl Scouts say the Cookie Program has built their entrepreneurship skills and their interest in pursuing entrepreneurship as a career path—so every cookie purchase is an investment in the world-changing business leaders of tomorrow. What’s more, each and every purchase stays local to power amazing experiences and leadership opportunities for girls in communities across southeast Texas.

New cookie packaging (with the same great taste!) continues to emphasize what the Cookie Program is all about, and the images feature current Girl Scouts taking part in a diverse range of experiences available to members—from adventure-packed camping and canoeing, to exploring space science and designing robots, to taking action to improve their communities. Every purchase of Girl Scout Cookies makes experiences like these possible for girls in your local community.

“The Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest female entrepreneurship program in the world, with each participating Girl Scout serving as the CEO for her own business. When a customer purchases their favorite box of Girl Scout Cookies, they are helping girls fund their Girl Scout experience, investing in the local community and supporting female entrepreneurship,” said Mary Vitek, GSSJC’s CEO.

GSSJC has scheduled a press conference on January 31 from 10 am – 11 am to kick off cookie season and donate the first cases of Girl Scout Cookies to first responders as part of their Cookies4Heroes program. To participate in Cookies4Heroes, all customers need to do is let the Girl Scout who is selling cookies know that they would like their purchase donated to Cookies4Heroes. Media and press are encouraged to attend the event as CEO Mary Vitek, Girl Scouts and Cookies4Heroes recipients help launch the 2020 Cookie Program.

Girl Scout Cookies can only be purchased from a registered Girl Scout. To find Girl Scouts selling cookies near you, visit wherearethecookies.com or use the official Girl Scout Cookie Finder app, free on iOS and Android devices.
