Think Like an Engineer Journey for Juniors

Fri Mar 01, 7:00 PM - Sun Mar 03, 10:00 AM CST
Camp Agnes Arnold, Conroe, TX, 77303 Map
$45/girl; $20/adult
Adult, Junior
Learn to think like an engineer during this "Arctic Survivor" themed weekend! Can you build an igloo?  Design a parachute?  Create a snowball launcher?  Make an insulating blanket? Join other Juniors and learn how to utilize your construction skills as you work as a team to solve engineering challengesl like building shelter and structures are to withstand the elements. Juniors will rotate through the engineering design challenges and project roles including Project Manager, Materials Manager, Chief Architect, or Master Builder. Groups will be guided by older Girl Scouts, many from our GSSJC STEM Squad, who will serve as team captains. Individual girls (with an adult chaperone) are welcome as well as girls within troops that are interested in the topic.

Girls will complete all Journey requirements except the Take Action Project and will receive the Think Like an Engineer badge. Girls will complete the Take Action Project and receive the Take Action Project badge on their own. All meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday are provided. An optional session will be set aside on Sunday where troops can have dedicated time to brainstorm their Take Action Project plan.

Drop-off and Supervision: This is NOT a drop-off event; Girl Scout ratio of adults are required to attend and must register. Adult space is limited. Please only register the required minimum number of adults per Girl Scout ratio in Volunteer Essentials.
