Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council is one of hundreds of councils chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA. Girl Scouting was founded in the United States in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Low had been inspired by Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts in England. Chartered by Congress March 16, 1950, GSUSA currently serves over 3 million members. Girl Scouts of the USA is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), an international movement with almost 10 million members in more than 140 countries.
