Want to learn how to sail the open seas? Are you interested in being a Mariner? This is the activity for you! Learn how to rig and sail a Sunfish sailboat. You will learn about boat safety, injury prevention, knot tying and more. This is a physically and mentally demanding weekend. Be prepared to be challenged and have fun! Basic Sailing is a two-weekend course, and you must attend both weekends, no exception. Must be A GSSJC Proficient/Advanced Swimmer. Cards must be presented at the time of check-in. Participants will be re-tested at the time of the activity.

Drop-off and Supervision: This is a drop-off event-adults do not stay. However, to meet Girl Scout safety ratios and ensure a safe experience for all participants, we do rely on volunteers. Please consider signing up to help!
Adult Requirements: This is a camp event, and a camp-trained adult will be provided by the facilitators. However, to meet Girl Scout safety requirements, we also depend on additional volunteers. All adults must have a current membership and background check and have completed GSUSA Child Abuse Prevention Training. Your help is essential-please consider signing up!
Adult Volunteer opportunities (dorm mom/kitchen help) available for registered adults (Male/Female) to help during the weekend. Additional details regarding Adult Volunteer positions can be provided by mariner.coordinators@gmail.com.
