Jenna Knight has earned a reputation for being a gem of a Girl Scout of San Jacinto Council volunteer. As the volunteer camp co-director for many years at the Northampton day camp, Jenna creates exciting summer experiences for girls and other adult volunteers in the Klein Trails Community. In addition, Jenna has two daughters in Girl Scouts and leads Troops 13497 and 114175 in the Spring, Texas area.
Jenna’s ability to build community connections through her in-depth knowledge of and passion for camp has fostered support for the day camp and other Community events. She coordinates the Longleaf program for older girls at the day camp with co-director Carrie Campbell. They oversee registration, training, and programming for the popular program. Through their leadership, the girls have enriching opportunities as they develop leadership skills during the week-long day camp. These incredible experiences have younger girls eagerly waiting to become a Longleaf.
“I am so grateful to have Jenna as not only a volunteer camp co-director in our council but also as the council-wide coordinator of the volunteer-led day/twilight camps,” said Natalie Jares, an outdoor experience manager for Girl Scout of San Jacinto Council. “In this role, she supports other day and twilight directors with her experience and knowledge.”
Jenna demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills in her various roles. In January, Jenna Knight and Carrie were instrumental in ensuring their Community campout at Camp Agnes Arnold moved forward despite obstacles that arose the weekend of the event. Similarly, when Hurricane Beryl caused the cancellation of day camp, Jenna and her team shared their consumable items with the neighborhood surrounding the day camp, making the most of an inconvenient situation and making the world a better place.
Jenna, who grew up as a Girl Scout, says she loves watching her daughter grow in Girl Scouts. “I love being a part of the things they love to do, and I love that, through the years, I have gotten to be a second mom to so many of "my girls,” Jenna said. “I have watched little girls grow into young women who will either lead this world or take it over. I love that I get to have some small part in that.”
