Girl Scout cookie season kicks off in southeast Texas, bringing joy during challenging times

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC) kicks off the 2021 Girl Scout Cookie season on Saturday, Feb. 6. This year, Girl Scouts are selling in creative, socially distant and contact-free ways to keep themselves and the community safe. This includes equipping Girl Scouts with digital storefronts and partnering with Grubhub for contactless deliveries through their app in select areas. Additionally, it is easier than ever to find a local troop and buy cookies for direct shipment via the national cookie finder website: www.girlscoutcookies.org.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program teaches girls about goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics. This year, Girl Scouts will also face the same challenges as other small businesses during the pandemic and will learn how to pivot in many of the same ways. Girl Scouts will get hands-on experience in digital marketing and connecting with customers in a virtual world.

“This is going to be a very exciting year for our Girl Scouts, and we are inspired to see them leverage technology in creative ways and embrace their entrepreneurial spirits more than ever,” said Mary Vitek, CEO of Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council. “What makes this year even more exciting is that we also have a new cookie – the Toast-Yay!™”

The Toast-Yay™ is a French toast-inspired cookie, dipped in delicious icing. The cookie is shaped like a piece of toast and joins other long-time favorites like Thin Mints® and Caramel deLites® in bringing the joy of Girl Scout cookies to Southeast Texas.

But the Cookie Program is not just about cookies – it’s about giving girls valuable life experience that helps shape them into the type of young women who grow up to be smart, responsible citizens of the world. On top of that, proceeds from cookie sales stay local and enable girls to have life-changing experiences like attending summer camp, completing a community service project, and so much more.

How to Safely Purchase Girl Scout Cookies This Season

The community can safely support Girl Scouts by purchasing the new Toast-Yay!™ Girl Scout cookie or find a box of their favorite in a few different ways:
