Camping Experiences

Troops can spend the day or camp overnight at most of the council’s camps throughout the spring, fall, and winter months. From primitive camp sites to climate-controlled cabins, the council’s facilities can meet a wide range of camping experience levels.

While at camp, Girl Scouts can hike, study nature, cook outdoors, and find the Big Dipper in a star-filled sky. Specialized activities specific to certain camp properties include horseback riding, bicycling, a challenge course, sailing, and canoeing just to name a few.

Treelake Troop Kits are available for troop leaders and families to reserve ultimate weekend camping experience. These fun kits contain a range of topics to explore - from aquatics and birdwatching to geocaching and team building, plus more! We have kits designed for all Girl Scout levels.

Campers can reserve a kit through the SignUpGenius in advance or on the day they arrive on camp. The kits are for use only at Camp Agnes Arnold and Camp Misty Meadows Ranch for day or overnight camping. Review the checkout process.

Registered Girl Scouts and their families can spend a weekend in the great outdoors at Camp Whispering Pines near Garrison. Families camping must follow the same Girl Scout guidelines as troops and events. A list of standard Girl Scout guidelines (appropriate fuels, rules for conduct, etc.) will be included in the confirmation packet. Adult family members and boys are allowed to sleep in the same unit as girls and female adults. Additional family camping opportunities are available during the summer months and listed in the council’s resident camp guide.
Carousel is a unique troop program where older Girl Scout troops host and plan a special program around a unique theme for participating younger troops. Girl Scouts enjoy activities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, songs and games, crafts, hiking, and more. Carousel weekends are held at several GSSJC camp properties throughout the year and are usually offered to second-year Daisies, Brownies and Juniors (girls in grades 1-5).
