Camp Agnes Arnold

Located near Conroe, Camp Agnes Arnold offers a wide variety of classic camp activities, including archery, nature hikes, arts and crafts and much more. Shadow Lake gives campers 35 acres of cool, refreshing fun where girls can canoe, fish, swim, use the mega slide and explore nature around the lake.

Campers can focus on camping, outdoor adventures or canoeing and water fun during their sessions. Whether you love the lake, want an introductory session to the great outdoors, or are a seasoned camper looking for more, Arnold has the perfect session for you.

Accommodations

Campers will stay in tents, tree houses or cabin units of 24-36 girls each. Girls are assigned units based on their session, and units are assigned based on how many girls are in a session. With a view of the lake, girls eat most of their meals in the air-conditioned Ann Temple Allen Lodge. Near the lodge, the climate-controlled craft rooms and library/memorabilia room also offer an escape from the summer heat.

All Levels

Me & My Gal
Cost:  $300 per girl, $230 per adult  
Week:

Attention all Girl Scouts! This session is your chance to experience everything camp has to offer with your favorite lady. Try all the exciting activities at camp together and create memories to last a lifetime. Spend your days making cool crafts, swimming, hiking and more. This session is for pairs only—each camper must have a female adult family member or mentor accompanying her. Participants in this session will stay in cabins. This session is Sunday through Thursday.

End of Summer Bash: Best of the Best

Session includes lunch every day
Travel to either Camp Agnes Arnold or Casa Mare to enjoy all the fun of sleepaway camp without the sleep away commitment. Thursday night is an optional overnight camping experience, complete with s’mores in the great outdoors. This session includes both lunch and a snack every day. Camp is from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Bus Option: $60 per girl; 25 girl minimum - Bus service is available for an additional fee from the Program Place for Girls to Casa Mare and from the Imperial Valley Resource Center to Camp Agnes Arnold. 

Daisies

Daisy Day

Discover Camp Agnes Arnold during this one-day program. Create your own craft, canoe in Shadow Lake and explore science and nature. This is the perfect introductory program for Daisies to plan future camp adventures with an adult. One adult registration must accompany every two girls for this program. Check in at 9:30 a.m., program ends at 3 p.m. Girls who have never been to resident camp and are entering kindergarten and first grade are encouraged to attend this program.

Flower Power

Welcome to Camp Agnes Arnold and the great outdoors! In this session designed just for Daisies entering first grade, campers will explore all camp has to offer, including canoeing on Shadow Lake, arts and crafts, silly camp songs and swimming in the pool. Must be entering first grade to attend this session. This is a half-week session (Sunday through Tuesday).

Brownies

Moon Forest
Cost: $450
Week: 1
What wonders does the night sky hold? Make a star jar, stay up late one night to find constellations discover the world of the forest at night. In this session, explore and discover all that nature has to offer. Learn to be kind to plants and trees, understand the basics of Leave No Trace and observe different sights and sounds in the forest. In completing this program, campers will earn their Eco Friend badge while enjoying all the other great activities at camp.

Cabin Camper

If you are a Brownie who loves the outdoors, come to this fun-filled week at camp devoted towards the Brownie Outdoor Journey. You’ll keep busy earning your Cabin Camper, Brownie First Aid and Hiker badges and completing a Take Action project. You may even complete the whole Brownie Outdoor Journey during this week. Head home with tons of new outdoor skills and fantastic memories of your great time at camp.

House Elves

Welcome to camp, house elves! Learn how to save the day in your everyday life alongside some of your favorite sock-loving elves. Make wizard-themed crafts and play magical games, go home with your very own wand and earn the Household Elf badge.

Little Mermaid

Splish, splash and have a blast while swimming in the pool, canoeing on Shadow Lake and playing water games. The only thing missing from this session is a tail and gills! Participate in a canoe race and lake scavenger hunt.

Camptastic

Love traditional camp activities but prefer a shorter camp session? This is the session for you. Experiment with outdoor cooking, sing songs around the campfire and learn all about the cool things nature has to offer. This is a half-week session (Wednesday through Saturday).

Firelight and Fairytales

If you like eating s'mores, singing songs, playing games, swimming, cooking outside and listening to fairytales, this session is for you. Join us for a week of camp fun and outdoor exploration, taking in all camp has to offer during this mystical, magical time at camp. Enjoy canoeing, arts and crafts and more.

Juniors

Tree Trek

Climbing in the treetops, discovering adventures in the woods, tree identification and knot tying are all waiting for you in this new session. You'll earn the Snow or Climbing Adventure badge for Juniors and make lots of new friends.

Fantastic Beasts

A certain briefcase fell open at Camp Agnes Arnold and we need your help. Become a Magizoologist when you find nifflers and bowtruckles, billywigs and a demiguise. You will also learn animal first aid techniques and earn the Animal Habitats badge.

Wayfinders

Learn how to navigate using the stars like Moana, set a course using traditional and modern methods and say goodbye to your home island as you voyage to stay overnight at a different camp. Take a break from your wayfinding studies to visit archery and have some fun at the pool. Be the explorers of the waters, reading the wind and sky as you go.

Curtain Call

Lights, camera, action! Do you just love being in front of a crowd? Maybe you want to work on your improv or try out for the school play next fall. Get some pro tips from your visit to a live show and chat with cast members. Learn theater techniques, and star in a production for other campers before the curtain falls on your last day at camp.

Auradon and the Isle

Stay cool during the hot summer with aqua aerobics, water volleyball, swimming, snorkeling and visit a water park. Girls will also explore how fun activities can help you stay fit, while earning the Staying Fit badge.

Cadettes

Night Owl

Not a morning person? We’ve got the session for you. Sleep late every morning and explore camp during the midnight hours while other campers sleep. Enjoy late night swims and hikes, tell stories around the campfire, visit the lodge for late night activities and more. Work on the secret society Polar Bear patch and earn the Night Owl badge. Note: Campers in this session will stay up until approximately 2 a.m. every night and sleep in until approximately 11 a.m.

Z.A.P.

Would you be prepared for a zombie apocalypse? Here is your opportunity to join an elite Zombie Apocalypse Preparation (Z.A.P.) crew dedicated to survival. Hone your marksmanship with archery challenges, develop your leadership abilities, learn outdoor living skills and patrol Camp Agnes Arnold while planning escape routes and defensible spaces.

LiA (Leader in Action)

Do you love helping out younger girls at camp? You will work on their Leader in Action (LiA) Award while spending the week working with younger girls in a hands-on training experience you'll never forget. Completion of a LiA Award is a prerequisite for Program Aides and a good foundation for the other Teen Mentoring Awards. During free time, our LiA's will have plenty of time to take a dip in the pool, shoot a round of archery or visit the Nature Center.

MEdia

Are you snapping photos all the time? Want to learn how to get the best pictures possible? Then this is the session for you. Learn the basics of digital photography, and then hit the camp trails to take lots of pictures, while earning your MEdia Journey. Finish the week by editing and sharing your pictures.

Trailblazers

Leave the world behind as you backpack out into nature. Learn the ins and outs of backpacking and carrying everything you need on your back. Spend time in camp, hiking to trails and units on the camp border before you pack up and head to a national forest in Texas for a backpacking adventure.

Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors

Canoe Aide

Want to spend the week getting valuable hands-on experience leading camper in canoeing and other lake activities? Join us for a week at camp, spending the day assisting camp staff on the lake in leading activities for Daisies, Brownies and Juniors and shadow camp staff as they lead their units during the day. Must have completed canoe certification and Program Aide training.

Seniors and Ambassadors

Girl vs. Wild

Learn the ways of survival in this ultimate camp challenge. Your cell phone is dead, your food has fallen off a cliff and your water pump is broken. Build a water filter and team up to complete challenges of survival by building shelters and starting a fire. Take a break and splash in the pool, shoot arrows or kayak on the water. Will you survive the wild?

Trail Boss

Get trained for backpacking and use those skills in a three-day hike on the Appalachian Trail. During this session, you will receive training from GSSJC backpacking instructors, then travel to North Carolina for a seven-day excursion. You will learn basic backpacking skills and meet professional backpackers on this journey. This is a two-week session. Guardians must complete additional paperwork for this session which includes a trip out-of-state. Session minimum to make is six girls.

Extreme Adventure

CIT I (Counselor-in-Training)

Are you a camping pro? Do you dream of the day when you can become a counselor? If so, this session is for you. You will spend two weeks at Camp Agnes Arnold learning all about GSSJC's summer resident camps and the leadership skills required to lead younger girls. You will also assist camp staff in leading campers in activities. This is a two-week session. Must be 15 years old and entering tenth grade or above.

CIT II (Counselor-in-Training)

If you've completed CIT I and are ready to take the next step in your camp leadership journey, join us for CIT II. You'll visit all three GSSJC resident camps, do a primitive overnight and learn valuable skills that could help you earn a job as a counselor. Trained CITs are allowed to work at camp starting at the age of 17, so what are you waiting for? Join the team. This is a two-week session. Must be 16 years old and entering eleventh grade or above to register.
