Camp Agnes Arnold

Located near Conroe, Camp Agnes Arnold offers a wide variety of classic camp activities, including archery, nature hikes, arts and crafts, and much more. At Shadow Lake, with its 35 acres of cool, refreshing fun—girls can canoe, swim, and explore nature around the lake. Campers can focus on climbing at our Adventure Park, canoeing, or camping skills during their sessions. Whether you love the lake, want an introductory session to the great outdoors, or are a seasoned camper looking for more, Arnold has the perfect session for you. 

Accommodations

Campers will stay in tents, tree houses, or cabin units of 24-36 girls each. Girls are assigned units based on their session, and units are assigned based on how many girls are in a session. With a view of the lake, girls eat most of their meals in the air-conditioned Ann Temple Allen Lodge. Near the lodge, the climate-controlled craft rooms and library/memorabilia room also offer an escape from the summer heat.

Check-In and Check-Out

Camp check-in is on Sunday between 2 – 4 p.m. An exact check-in time for each cohort will be sent the week before camp. Check-out is on Saturday at 9 a.m. Please note that for half-week sessions, check-out is on Wednesday at 9 a.m. and check-in is on Wednesday at 4 p.m. For Daisy Days, check-in is at 9:30 a.m., and check-out is at 3:30 p.m.

Arnold Schedule
2022 Session Descriptions

NOTE: Sessions are designed for girls entering their next grade level in the fall. The activities listed in the catalog will comprise part of the day. Girls choose how to fill their session time with traditional camp activities like swimming, archery, arts and crafts, games and more. Please note that planned activities may be altered due to a variety of factors such as weather, girl choice or ability to meet prerequisites.

Daisies are girls entering grades K - 1 in fall 2022.

Daisy Day
Weeks 2, 4, 6 - $65 per person (Daisy & adult chaperone)

Discover Camp Agnes Arnold during this one-day program. Create your own craft, canoe in Shadow Lake ,and explore science and nature. This is the perfect introductory program for Daisies to plan future camp adventures with an adult. One adult registration must accompany every two girls for this program. Check-in at 9:30 a.m., program ends at 3 p.m.  Girls who have never been to resident camp and are entering Kindergarten and first  grade are encouraged to attend this program. Adults and girls must register separately.  

Flower Power 
Weeks 1, 5 (Sunday through Wednesday) - $375

Grade 1

Welcome to Camp Arnold and the great outdoors! In this session designed just for Daisies entering first grade, campers will explore all camp has to offer, including canoeing on Shadow Lake, arts and crafts, silly camp songs, and swimming in the pool. Must be entering first grade to attend this session. This is a half-week session.  

Brownies are girls entering grades 2- 3 in fall 2022.

Camptastic  
Weeks 1, 5 - $375  (Wednesday through Saturday)   

Love traditional camp activities but prefer a shorter camp session? This is the session for you! Experiment with outdoor cooking, sing songs around the campfire, and learn all about the cool  things nature has to offer. This is a half-week session. 

Firelight and Fairytales 
Week: 3 - $450
Week: 4, 5, 6 - $650

If you like eating s'mores, singing songs, playing games, swimming, cooking outside, and listening to fairytales, this session is for you! Join us for a week of camp fun and outdoor exploration, taking in all camp has to offer during this mystical, magical time at camp. Enjoy canoeing, arts and crafts, and more!  

Magical Mermaids 
Week: 1, 2, 4, 6 - $650

Splish, splash, and have a blast while swimming in the pool, canoeing on Shadow Lake, and playing water games! The only thing missing from this session is a tail and gills! Participate in a canoe race and lake scavenger hunt. 

Juniors are girls entering grades 4 - 5 in fall 2022.

Auradon and the Isle 
Weeks 2, 4, 6 - $650

Calling all villains! Are you ready to explore what separates good from evil? Master kitchen chemistry spells with Mal and create your own fashion accessories with Evie. Go bobbing for enchanted apples and capture Fairy Godmother’s wand. Which side of the barrier will you be on at the end of the week?

Fantastic Beasts
Weeks 2, 5 - $650

Ever wanted to be a magizoologist? This session is not for No-Majs! Grab your wands and get ready to meet magical creatures and investigate their habitats, create a house for them, and learn all about protecting these unique and endangered animals.

Tree Trek
Week: 2, 4 - $695
Week 3 - $475

Climbing near the treetops, discovering adventures in the woods, tree identification, and knot-tying are all waiting for you at Camp Arnold. You'll earn the Snow or Climbing Adventure badge and make lots of new friends.  Must be age 9 by the time this session begins. 

Wayfinders 
Weeks 1, 5 - $650

Learn how to navigate using the stars like Moana, set a course using traditional and modern methods, and say goodbye to your home island as you voyage to stay overnight at a different camp! Take a break from your wayfinding studies to visit archery and have some fun at the pool! Be the explorers of the waters, reading the wind, and sky as you go!   

 

Cadettes are girls entering grades 6 - 8 in fall 2022.

Canoe/ Archery Aides
Weeks 1, 2,3, 4, 5, 6 - $395
Age 13+

Want to spend the week getting valuable hands-on experience leading campers in canoeing and other lake activities? Or at the range, helping younger girls discover archery? Or a little of each?  In this program, older girls can gain valuable experience and service hours in the comforts of a camp setting. Must  submit proof of completed program aide (or equivalent experience leading girls).  To assist with canoeing, girls must be at least 13 years old.  To assist with archery, girls must be at least 15 years old.

Cosmic Art
Week 3 - $450

Do you love drawing and painting? What about anime characters, cartoons, comic strips, or superheroes? Have you always been interested in diving into art, but never got the chance? This session is all about being creative and perfecting your art skills.

LIA
Week: 1, 2, 4, 6 - $725

Do you love helping younger girls at day camp? Girls will work on their Leader in Action (LiA) Award while spending the week working with younger girls in a hands-on training experience you'll never forget! Completion of a LiA Award is now a prerequisite for program aides and a good foundation for the other teen mentoring awards. In their free time, our LiA's will have plenty of time to take a dip in the pool, shoot a round of archery, or visit the Nature Center.

No Man's Land
Weeks 4, 6 - $675

Are you ready to put your survivor skills to the test? Learn the ways of survival in this ultimate camp challenge! Your cell phone is dead, your food has fallen off a cliff, and your water pump is broken. Build a water filter and team up to complete challenges of survival by building shelters and starting a fire. Take a break and splash in the pool, shoot arrows, or kayak on the water! Will you survive the wild?  

Program Aide Training
Weeks 2, 4 - $725

Ready to get trained as an archery aide, canoe aide, or aerial adventure aide? Learn all about the Adventure Park, archery aide, and our lake as you earn you Girl Scout Program Aide Award. Must have completed LiA to be accepted into this session.

Night Owl
Weeks 1, 2, 4, 6 - $675
Week 3 - $450

Not a morning person? We’ve got the session for you! Sleep late every morning and explore camp during the moonlight hours while other campers sleep. Enjoy late night swims and hikes, tell stories around the campfire, visit the lodge for late night activities, and more! Work on the secret society Polar Bear Patch and earn the Night Owl Badge. Note: Campers in this session will stay up until approximately midnight every night and sleep in the next morning.

CIT I
Week: 5-6 (2 weeks) - $795
Age 14+

Are you a camping pro? Do you dream of the day when you can become a counselor? If so, this session is for you! You will spend two weeks at Camp Agnes Arnold, learning all about GSSJC's summer resident camps and the leadership skills required to lead younger girls. You will also assist camp staff  in leading campers in activities! This is a two-week session. Must be 14 years old and entering ninth grade or above.  

CIT II
Week: 1-2 (2 weeks) - $795
Age 15+

If you've completed CIT I and are ready to take the next step in your camp leadership journey, join us for CIT II.  You'll visit other GSSJC camps, do a primitive overnight, and learn valuable skills that could help you earn a job! Trained CITs may be hired to work at camp starting at 16 years old, so what are you waiting for? Join the team!  This is a two-week session. Must be 15 years old and entering 10th grade or above to register.I

 

Glamping
Week 3 - $495

Ready for this camp stay-cation?  Learn how to make your own cosmetics, make your own jewelry, and make a candle. Bring your cabin to life with personalized decorations. Take a break and splash in the pool, shoot arrows, or kayak on the water!

Lifeguard Training
Week 1 - $750
Ages 15 - 18

Are you a strong swimmer who has dreamed of working poolside in the summer? If you are interested in learning important lifesaving techniques that you can use in a summer job, why not become a lifeguard?

** Must be at least 15 years old on or before the last day of the session.   American Red Cross lifeguard certification will last for two years upon completion. Campers must also pass a prerequisite evaluation in order to participate in the course.  The prerequisites include: swimming 300 yards continuously, treading water using only the legs for two minutes, and a timed event in which they must swim 20 yards and retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 7 to 10 feet, then swim back holding the object with two hands. Participants who do not successfully complete the pre-course evaluation may not continue in the course.  Campers must also pass a written exam and skills test to receive certification.

Night Howlers
Week: 5 - $675

Ready to party after dark? Explore camp after dark when the moon is shining bright and other campers sleep. Enjoy late night swims and hikes, tell stories around the campfire, visit the lodge for late night activities, and more!
