Camp Agnes Arnold

Shadow Lake is the main attraction at Camp Agnes Arnold located near Conroe. The lake offers 35 acres of cool, refreshing fun for campers. Girls may enjoy canoeing, swimming, nature study and fishing on Shadow Lake.

The legends of the Magic Elf and Hipper entertain and delight the imaginations of all campers. In addition to the focus of the session, campers also participate in traditional camp activities such as swimming, crafts, hiking, archery, games and making new friends.

Open House

Bring a picnic lunch and meet the staff on Sunday, March 24 from noon-4 p.m. Register online at


Campers will stay in tents, tree houses or cabin units of 24-36 girls each. Girls are assigned units based on their session, and units are assigned based on how many girls are in a session. With a view of the lake, girls eat most of their meals in the air-conditioned Ann Temple Allen Lodge. Near the lodge, the climate-controlled craft rooms and library/memorabilia room also offer an escape from the summer heat.

Flower Power
Weeks: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 | Price: $310
Welcome to Camp Arnold and the great outdoors! In this session designed just for Daisies, campers will explore all camp has to offer, including canoeing on Shadow Lake, arts and crafts, silly camp songs, and swimming in the pool. These are two-night sessions. Weeks 1 and 5 are Sunday through Tuesday. Weeks 2, 4 and 6 are Wednesday through Friday.


Weeks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | Price: $310
Love traditional camp activities but prefer a shorter camp session? This is the session for you! Experiment with outdoor cooking, sing songs around the campfire, and learn all about the cool things nature has to offer. Also explore canoeing, swimming, and arts and crafts. These are two-night sessions. Weeks 2, 3, 4 and 6 are Sunday through Tuesday. Weeks 1 and 5 are Wednesday through Friday.

Firelight and Fairytales
Weeks: 1, 3, 5 | Price: $440 (Week 3: $440)
If you like eating s'mores, singing songs, playing games, swimming, cooking outside and listening to fairytales, this session is for you! Join us for a week of camp fun and outdoor exploration, taking in all camp has to offer during this mystical, magical time at camp. Enjoy canoeing, arts and crafts and more! Note: Checkout during week 3 is Wednesday, July 3.

The Little Mermaid
Weeks: 2, 4, 6 | Price: $440
Splish, splash and have a blast while swimming in the pool, canoeing on Shadow Lake, and playing water games! The only thing missing from this session is a tail and gills! Participate in a canoe race and lake scavenger hunt.


Animal Adventures
Weeks: 2, 4 | Price: $470
This session is purr-fect for anyone who loves pets. Girls will visit a local vet clinic and petting zoo to see their four-legged animal friends. Learn animal first aid techniques and learn all about your furry friends!

Camp Adventure
Weeks: 2, 5, 6 | Price: $465
Is camping your absolute favorite thing in the world? Then come on down to Camp Arnold for a camp adventure! Learn all about outdoor cooking, fire-building and more outdoor skills. Round out the week with the best of camp activities, including canoeing, swimming and arts and crafts.

Trailblazin’ and Creek Stompin’
Weeks: 1, 3, 4 | Price: $440 (Week 3: $370)
Do you love exploring the great outdoors and playing in the dirt? Get into some messy mischief at camp while getting dirty on a hike, tie-dying a t-shirt, and singing camp songs! Explore nature, gardening and all that camp has to offer. Note: Checkout during week 3 is Wednesday, July 3.

Water Works
Weeks: 1, 5, 6 | Price: $440
Stay cool during the hot summer with aqua aerobics, water volleyball, swimming, snorkeling and more! Also paddle around Shadow Lake, and explore everything the lake has to offer!


Leader in Action (LiA)
Weeks: 1, 2, 5 | Price: $440
Do you love helping younger girls at camp? Cadettes will work on their Leader-in-Action (LiA) award, while spending the week working with Brownies in a hands-on training experience you'll never forget. (LiA is a prerequisite for Program Aide.) In their free time, LiAs will take a dip in the pool, shoot archery and sample what camp has to offer.

Night Owls
Weeks: 2, 3, 5 | Price: $465 (Week 3: $395)
Not a morning person? We've got the session for you! Sleep late every morning, and explore camp during the midnight hours while other campers sleep. Enjoy late night swims and hikes, tell stories around the campfire, visit the lodge for late night activities, and more. Head over to the Challenge Course for a night zip. (As per Girl Scout Safety Activity Checkpoints and American Camp Association guidelines, girls who are not 12 years old by the start of the camp session will not be able to participate in the night zip. Girls unable to night zip will participate in another fun owl prowl adventure.) Note: Checkout during week 3 is Wednesday, July 3.

Paddles and Pedals
Weeks: 1, 4, 6 | Price: $465
Do you have land and sea legs? Show off your paddling skills, then hop on a bike and take an overnight trip to a sister camp for some fun. Sample all camp has to offer as well, including archery, nature exploration and more!

Program Aide
Weeks: 3, 4, 6 | Price: $440 (Week 3: $370)
Have you completed LiA and want to continue on to be a Program Aide, mentoring girls at camp? Join us as a Program Aide! Program Aides will spend part of their day assisting camp staff with Brownies and Daisies, and spend the rest of their time on Program Aide training and camp activities just for them! For girls entering 7th or 8th gradeNote: Checkout during week 3 is Wednesday, July 3.

Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors

Weeks: 6-7 (July 21-August 2) | Price: $935
Leave the world behind as you backpack out into nature! Learn the ins and outs of backpacking, and carrying everything you need on your back! Spend time in camp, hiking to trails and units on the camp border, before you pack up and head to a national forest for a backpacking adventure! This is a two-week session. There is a mandatory meeting before camp on June 15, 2019 at the Girl Scout Center.

Extreme Adventure
Weeks: 1-2 (June 16-28) | Price: $935
Calling all campers looking for an adventure! How does climbing Enchanted Rock and tubing down the Comal sound? How about visiting Schlitterbauhn in New Braunfels? Spend a few days at camp, and enjoy hiking and canoeing. Then head out of camp for an action-packed session sure to thrill and delight. This is a two-week session . Girls age 12 and up will earn their canoeing certification. Girls must have a Red Cross Level III swim card or equivalent to earn the canoeing certification.

Just Add Water
Weeks: 4-5 (July 7-19) | Price: $910
Do you love paddling around Shadow Lake? Do all kinds of water thrills appeal to you? Spend a week on the lake at Camp Agnes Arnold. Work towards your canoeing certification. Then head out of camp for a water adventure, including stopping at Splashtown in Spring, and then canoeing overnight to destinations unknown! This is a two-week session . Girls age 12 and up will earn their canoeing certification. Girls must have a Red Cross Level III swim card or equivalent to earn the canoeing certification.

Seniors and Ambassadors

CIT (Counselor In Training)
Weeks: 1-2 (June 16-28), 4-5 (July 7-19) | Price: $760
Are you a camping pro? Do you dream of the day when you can become a counselor? If so, this session is for you! Girls will spend two weeks at Camp Agnes Arnold, learning all about GSSJC's summer resident camps and the leadership skills required to lead younger girls. They will also get an opportunity to work with camp staff to lead campers in activities! CIT training is a prerequisite for intern weeks. This is a two-week session . Only campers who have attended and completed CIT may register for intern weeks .

Canoe Aides
Weeks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 | Price: $210
Have Fundamentals of Canoeing or an equivalent canoe certification? Want to spend the week getting valuable hands-on experience leading camper in canoeing and other lake activities? Canoe Aides will spend the day assisting camp staff on the lake in leading activities for Daisies, Brownies and Juniors, and will shadow camp staff as they lead activities on the lake. Aides will have some free time in the evening to plan all-camp activities and work on leadership training.

Day Camp

End of Summer Bash
July 29-August 2 | Price: $210
Enjoy all the fun of day camp and resident camp in one week. Your days will be filled with arts and crafts, games, swimming, archery (Brownies and up) and working on your Outdoor Journey. There will be an optional sleepover on Thursday to experience cooking over a fire, nighttime activities and singing around the campfire. Camp is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
