Date: Tue Oct 21, 7:00 PM CDT - Tue Oct 21, 8:00 PM CDT
Category:
  • Adult Training
Level:
  • Volunteers

This Green Apple will help mentors understand the expectations of their role to effectively support their mentees. A mentor should know the ways of participating in Girl Scouts and take special interest in helping others. A mentor helps clear the way, gives some travel tips for the new volunteer's journey, smooths the bumps, celebrates successes, and shares the joy of the new volunteer's journey. They can help the new volunteer develop skills necessary to navigate the occasional challenging turn in the road.

At the end of this Green Apple training, participants will be able to

  • Identify challenges and/or fears of adult volunteers being a new leader.
  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a troop mentor to new leaders.
  • Locate Girl Scout resources/tools needed to support them in this role.
  • List specific steps troop mentors can take to provide support and guidance to new leadership team members.
