Sloop Captain

Are you a currently enrolled Mariner ready to advance your sail rating! To enroll you must be an active Mariner at least six months after completion of Sloop Skipper. In addition, Mariner Girls must obtain approval from the Instructor Coordinator (instructor.coordinator@gmail.com) to enroll in the Sloop Captain class. Mariner girls are responsible for reaching out to the Instructor Coordinator to verify their status. After receiving verified approval, you are on your way to becoming a Sloop Captain!

Sloop Captain Prerequisites:

Sloop Skipper is required before Sloop Captain.

Before taking Sloop Captain, you are expected to have been actively involved in Mariners for at least three months after Sloop Crew. Regular sailing during the three prior months of the sailing season is required.

Mariners who have completed Mate are expected to lead and serve.

Texas law requires that you obtain a Texas Safe Boater Card. This can be done online. For details, see the Texas Parks & Wildlife website http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/learning/boater_education/
