Do you enjoy working with horses and want to develop your leadership skills by working with other girls on weekends at Misty during the school year? If so, come spend a weekend at Misty learning the theories and hands-on skills needed to join the SPURS (Super People Using Riding Skills) special interest group at Misty Meadows Ranch! Participants who successfully complete training and take a written exam will earn a level one SPURS scarf. Then, they are qualified to participate in the weekend riding program during the school year. No previous riding experience is necessary. Participants will be in cabin-style accommodations, must stay the ENTIRE weekend (Fri 8pm - Sun 12pm), and must provide their own meals, bedding, and toiletries. For the best experience, we recommend that this isn't their first night away from home - this helps them feel more comfortable and confident.. Adult & girl trainees sleep and eat in separate locations, so pack food separately.

Drop-off and Supervision: This is a drop-off event. Adults do not stay unless they are registered for the event. Girl Scout ratio will be met by SPURS facilitators.
Adult Requirements: Any adults supervising girls outside of their family must have a current membership and background check. Adults must also be registered for the event to stay and participate.
Tagalongs: No tagalongs are allowed at this event.
Bring: Required forms which will be sent in an email from SPURS facilitators prior to the event. This email will include a complete packing list and instructions.

You will receive an email titled, in part, "New SPURS Training" approximately 2.5 weeks before the event. All information, including start time/end time/location/etc, is included in this email. If you need to cancel the weekend, please contact customer service (CustomerService@sjgs.org / 713-292-0300) ASAP. This is usually a sold out event with several girls/adults on the waitlist who would like the opportunity to attend.
