Be adventurous - travel with Girl Scouts!
Ready to explore the world of travel? Girl Scouts will take you places far and wide, while providing you with unforgettable experiences and life-changing adventures!
Girls gain enormous benefits through traveling. They develop confidence, courage, and character as they plan, earn money, and venture to other parts of the United States or countries. They make lifelong friends— not only with the girls they travel with but also new girls they meet through their travels.
They also gain cultural insight, an appreciation for differences and similarities, and a broadened perspective. As girls grow in Girl Scouts, they discover that travel is one of the most exciting aspects Girl Scouting.
Ways to Travel
The following is required for all trips:
- All adults must have a current membership and background check and current (within 2 years) GSUSA Girl Scouts Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention course.
- At least one adult must be a current first aider.
- At least one adult must have completed Camping and Overnight Basics training.
- Adult drivers will receive an authorization to complete a driver check via email; please watch for an email from Asurint.
Troop/Group
Short Troop/Group Trips (any trip of one to three nights within a six-hour drive from home)
- Troops must submit the F-413 Short Troop Group Trip Form one to three months before the planned trip.
- Submitting all required forms and certifications will expedite the approval of your trip. Please allow at least two weeks for the travel manager to approve your trip, once all required forms are submitted.
Extended Troop/ Group Trips (any trip of four nights or more, and/or any trip more than a six-hour drive from home)
Three forms need to be submitted. Each should be approved before the next one is submitted.
- O-883 Initial Plan - Submit plan 12 to 24 months before making deposit and before planned trip.
- O-884 Final Application - Submit three to 12 months before planned trip and before making final payments.
- O-927 Evaluation – Submit within two weeks after the trip.

Council Trips
GSSJC Trips are offered across the country and around the world for Cadettes and up (some trips may have higher grade restrictions). Trips led by GSSJC are a great way for girls to meet other girls in their council! Register on your own, with a friend, with a parent, or with a whole troop. Individually Registered Girls are also welcome to attend!
Adult trip leaders will be there to help along the way, but the journey is all about the girls! Trips are voted on by the girls at various older girl events throughout the year.If you're an adults interested in volunteering as a trip leader, please contact travel@sjgs.org for more details.
Interested in traveling with us? Join the fun as we explore:
- 2027 – Trip to London and Pax Lodge (seventh grade and up at the time of the trip).
- 2028 – Trip to South Korea and Japan (seventh grade and up at the time of the trip). Registration link coming soon.
Destinations
Girl Scout Destinations are the ultimate adventure for individual Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador Girl Scouts! Make friends from all over the country as you travel with Girl Scouts from different states. There’s a unique, life-changing experience for every girl.
A Destination is your chance to go somewhere new, do something different, and meet people from anywhere you can imagine! A Destination is any experience, regardless of distance or length of time. It provides girls ages 11-18 with an opportunity to expand her personal experience beyond her everyday scope.
Financial assistance is available to help cover the costs of Destinations. Applications are due by Dec. 15, 2025, but late applications will be considered as long as funds are available. Apply for assistance today!
Be sure to also check with your Community about Destination scholarships – several communities have them!
