Renew early for another year of Girl Scout adventures!

Early Bird season has ended (May 31), but you can still renew your membership for the 2026-2027 Girl Scout year. By renewing early, girls can reserve their troop spot for the new year and look forward to another year of friendship and discoveries. Membership dues for 2026-2027 are $65 for girls and $30 for adults.

Why renew early?

When girls renew early, troop leaders will know if girls plan to return when school resumes in the fall and whether there are openings in the troop. Early Bird renewal:

Helps troop leaders prepare for the next Girl Scout year before an influx of girls who want to join during back-to-school recruitment season.
Gives parents peace of mind knowing their daughter will be in the same troop next year.
Enables parents to mark one thing off their back-to-school lists.
Offers fantastic perks and incentives.

How to renew for parents

How Do I Prepare for Early Bird renewal? toggle arrow

Before April 11, take a moment as a family to decide whether your Girl Scout will renew with her current troop, join a different troop, or continue as an individually Registered Girl (Juliette).
Check with your troop leaders to find out how renewal fees will be covered - whether troop funds will be used for part or all of the renewal fee, or if families will purchase their girl(s) renewal fee individually.
Remember: troop funds belong to girls, and what better way for girls to benefit from their hard work than to reinvest in themselves by using their own money to renew for another year of adventure!

How Do I Renew My Household Memberships? toggle arrow

On April 11, all current girl and adult members show a status of “Time to Renew” in MYGS alongside a membership expiration date of 9/30/2026. To renew your troop or household, follow these steps:

Log in to MYGS (mygs.girlscouts.org) and click My Account.
In the left-hand menu, click My Household.
Click the Select All box under both Girls and Adults. Deselect any girls or adult roles that you will not be renewing. Click the green Renew button.
Follow the prompts to update any membership details, select a payment method, and review cart details.
Accept the Promise & Law.
Proceed to the payment screen and enter card details.
Early Bird discounts will be applied automatically starting April 1.
Download a copy of your receipt.

NOTE: Troop leaders cannot request financial assistance on behalf of girls. Only parents can do so via the My Household tab.

What Is the Cost of Membership Renewal? toggle arrow

The next annual membership year is Oct. 1, 2026, to Sept. 30, 2027. Girl memberships will be $65, and adult memberships will be $30. If you renew by April 20, girls receive a $15 discount and adults receive a $10 discount.
Lifetime memberships are tax-deductible as allowed by law. Purchase a lifetime membership between April 11 and May 31 to receive a $20 discount:
- Lifetime membership is $380 (normally $400)
- Young alumnae membership (under 30) is $180 (normally $200)
- 10 Years of Service membership is $180 (normally $200)

Here’s how to claim Early Bird incentives

Early Bird patch: Pick it up from the Girl Scout Shop between April 11 and Sept. 30, 2026. Patches are available for both girls and adults who renew by the May 31 Early Bird deadline. Discuss with your troop leader whether parents or the troop leader will pick up the patches.
Discount offer: Membership discounts will automatically apply when checking out in MYGS during the Early Bird period.

How to renew for troops

How Do I Prepare for Early Bird Renewal? toggle arrow

Check with troop families to see whether their girl(s) plan to stay with the troop, join a different troop, or become an Individually Registered Girl (Juliette).
Discuss renewal payment with your troop. Decide whether troop funds will be used to pay renewal fees or if families will pay individually. Remember that troop funds belong to the girls, and using them to renew is a great way to reinvest in another year of Girl Scout adventures. Options may include paying the full fee, covering a percentage, or matching the council's Early Bird discount.
Review your troop roster in MyGS (mygs.girlscouts.org) to ensure both girl and adult information is accurate. An up‑to‑date roster supports retention, recruitment, product sales, and cookie season.
Update troop details in MyGS if your meeting location, day, or time is changing. This can be done under the My Troops tab in My Account.

Here’s how to claim Council-Sponsored incentives:

Shop Discounts – These are redeemable in-store from July 1, 2026, through Dec. 23, 2026. The discount is for a single purchase, and the entirety of the discount must be used in one transaction. An email will be sent to all troop leaders with further details by June 30, 2026, so your troop can discuss who will use the discount.
Galveston Bay House – One troop will be drawn for a troop getaway on July 17-19, 2026. Proof of Camp certification and First Aid/CPR Certification are required. All registered adults must have completed GSUSA Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Training. Winners will be notified via email by June 30, 2026.
Troop Camp/Program Credits – If a troop chooses to use its credit for camping, it will reserve camp units as usual and receive priority placement over other troops (Galveston Bay House excluded). The camp/program credit winners will be notified by email by June 30, 2026. The program credit can be applied to any MY27 program that is scheduled after October 1. The credit must be applied by May 31, 2027, and troops must opt in to their desired program by July 31. NOTE: Troops that choose camping must provide the required Camp certification and First Aid/CPR certification. In addition, all registered adults have completed GSUSA Abuse and Neglect Prevention Training.

$20 lifetime membership discount!

When you join as a lifetime member, $25 of your membership fee funds a year of Girl Scouting for a member in our council area. Each lifetime membership donation is tax-deductible.

Purchase a lifetime membership between April 11 and May 31 to receive a $20 discount:

Young Alumnae membership (under 30): $180 (normally $200)
10 Years of Service membership: $180 (normally $200)

Anyone who accepts the principles and beliefs of the Girl Scout movement and is 18 years of age or older can purchase a lifetime membership.

Meet Ruby the Roadrunner, our 2026 Early Bird mascot!

Roadrunners are incredibly fast, reaching up to 20 miles per hour – so they actually prefer to run rather than fly! Commonly found in the southwestern United States and Mexico, you’re likely to spot one right here in Texas! Let us tell you a little bit more about Ruby, this year’s Early Bird mascot:

Habitat: Texas deserts and brushlands.
Fun Fact: Ruby can slow her heart rate down at night to conserve energy.
Favorite Snacks: Lizards, insects, and even small snakes!
Favorite Girl Scout Cookie: Exploremores; just like Ruby, they’re sweet, strong, and ready for any road ahead … even a rocky one!
Favorite Song: "Girls Run the World" (or " Life is a Highway").
Favorite Badge: Trail Adventure; she’s already mastered it!
